Wine and food itineraries
The area of Romano House Hotel will tell you everything about the cooking tradition of the Messina mountains, with a wide use of meat - especially of wether lamb. Mushrooms are excellent as well - all the best species grow here, both on the Nebrodi and Etna side. In Bronte, the homeland of pistachio, you really can't miss the bakeries and their recipes cotaining pistachio as main ingredient, including a spreadable cream that can compete with the Piedmontese one, made with cocoa and hazelnuts. In the late Spring, Maletto becomes the queen of strawberries - their festival takes place during the second Sunday in June. In the Etna side, as well as in the valley bottom, wide vineyards produce a delicious origin-guaranteed red wine.
